Bill Grover

Navy

William A Grover (Bill)

Bill was born in Concord, NH in 1942. He attended Concord

schools and graduated from Concord High School in 1960.

Because both his father and grandfather were civil engineers, Bill

had been surveying with his dad from a very young age. Upon

graduating High School and with Vietnam on the horizon, Bill

enlisted in the Navy SeaBees to work on the engineering and

construction of runways for the impending Vietnam War. He spent

the next 4 years on various islands with construction Battalion 10.

He returned to NH after his separation from the military and

worked for the NHDOT for the next 42 years.

An avid motorcyclist, since a very early age, Bill has logged

several hundred thousand miles on the road.

When he and his wife Jeanne both retired from the NHDOT in

2003, they rescued a bulldog puppy named Rosie. He

immediately created a place for the dog to ride on the back of his

Road King Police. Each day when the sun was shining, they went

for a ride together. When Rosie got too arthritic to ride comfortably

anymore, she had already logged 75,000 miles on the back.

Rosie brought miles of smiles wherever they rode. Bill and

Jeanne continued to ride together until 2020 when Jeanne had

failed knee surgery at age 71 and was no longer comfortable

holding up her Road King Classic and Bill was forced to give up

his license at age 78 due to the beginnings of dementia.
